Tribhuvan memorial gallery is located in the western wing of the palace. Janga Bahadur Rana, the first Rana prime minister, rebuilt this wing in European style in the 19th century. Later, it became a favorite wing for the Shah kings for some time. The seventh Shah king Prithvi Bir Bikram was born in this wing. His son King Tribhuvan Bir Bikram Shah, born in 1906, is remembered for his democratic rule.
Exhibits very rare and historical object of king Tribhuvan such as objects of childhood, rituals and personal belongings. It boosts of a precious collection of photos highlighting the political changes of 1950 AD that restored power back to the Shah Kings. His sudden demise occurred in Zurich, Switzerland in 1955 at the age of 48. His body was brought to Kathmandu in a coffin that is displayed in the room to left of the stairs.
