Towards the west of Nasal Chowk is a European-style building built by the first Rana Prime Minister of Nepal, Jung BahadurRana as a residence for his son-in-low, TrailokyaBikram Shah. This building currently houses the Tribhuvan Memorial Hall. Upon entering the building, there is an ornate spiral wooden staircase, which the kings and the royal family members used to ride their horses when attending the functions on the scond floor of the structure. According to popular beliefs, there are only two staircases in the whole of Asia that support horseback riding. The Hall has a collection of item used by Late King Tribhuwan, including the clothes he wore during his initiation ceremony and wedding. The hall also boasts of photographs highlighting the political change that occurred in Nepal in 2007 B.S. (1950 CE).
